Winamax Steampunk CGI Campaign
Every year, Soixante Seize and Winamax challenge us with something we haven’t done before. This time: a steampunk battle world, built entirely in Unreal Engine.
The concept was clear from the start. Zeppelins fighting for supremacy across a stormy sky, orbiting a monumental sword-shaped structure that serves as the visual anchor of the entire campaign. The kind of world that needed to feel heavy, mechanical, and alive all at once.
We chose Unreal Engine not just for its speed and visual output, but for the control and consistency it gave us across every scene. With five short films and three high-resolution print posters all living in the same environment, everything needed to stay coherent. And producing print-ready images at that resolution required an engine that could handle it without compromise.
The environment was the real challenge. Volumetric clouds sound straightforward until the action happens inside them. Standard solutions like UltraDynamic Sky work well at a distance, but here the battles were taking place between the clouds themselves. We composed and lit each environment with that in mind, treating every cloud formation as a deliberate creative decision rather than a backdrop.
Lightning effects, explosions, and volumetric atmosphere, consistent across every format.
