MetaKids and the UnrealStones was born as an exploratory project in Tigrelab, to experiment with the latest unreal version and metahuman software, in the development of full CGI audiovisual pieces. These technologies and tools allow us to approach projects through a much more efficient, controlled, and iterative workflow, the results obtained reach an astonishing level, significantly reducing production times.

For this short film, a very short film, we focus on a brief but intriguing story that addresses our characters in a dystopian world. Where the inanimate comes to life. How will this world challenge our heroes?

Process

Rocks and some environment elements are always tricky to get right. We used Cinema 4D to integrate these simulations within the 3D environments developed in UnrealEngine 5, where we also carry out the whole process of animation, lighting and rendering.
For our characters we focus on exploring the Metahuman tool, using mesh and children’s bodies specially designed and developed for the project.
Afterwards we made a complete process of integration, composition and staging of the whole piece, achieving the aesthetic we were looking for.
