For the Rain-X launch of their new product line, the director duo from Aggressive approached us to help them create a mixed-media commercial.

The ad shows the effectiveness of the brand wiper blades during different challenging weathers, in all types of cars.

In order to do so, we jumped into a challenging production mixing different kinds of shot formats: Live Action shooting, Virtual Production filmed onto CG environments and Driving Plates, and full CG shots… All blended within dynamic mosaic compositions, energized through a smooth Motion Graphics animation to enhance rhythm for an impactful result.

We started the production by creating four environments in Unreal: a forest full of trees, a dusty desert, a snowy mountain road, and an autumn suburban road. These backgrounds served as our canvas for virtual production LED backplates.

At the same time, we prepared different cars for each environment to have a full CG Pre-Viz to visualize the various techniques of the different shots.

The amazing crew from ATM Virtual captured live-action footage of authentic real cars on set, leveraging our Unreal environments through Virtual Production technology.

By integrating different car models into our crafted backgrounds, we achieved a dynamic mosaic composition, tailored to highlight the performance of the Rain-X wiper blade.

This combination of Live Action and full CG shots enabled a compelling visual narrative, with the result of a high-performing wiper blade commercial.
